The “Repeating Word” series involves selecting a specific word and writing it over and over creating a visual meditation. The extensive overlays and intersections of lines form subtle relationships and graphic patterns.
The drawings are then scanned and enlarged many times their actual scale and reinterpreted into new compositions. By modifying the contrast, scale, hue, and design, I’m able to generate a wide spectrum of variations based on specific words and individual pieces.
This “Repeating Word” concept incorporates several different areas of focus within my creative process. It merges my interest in poetry, graphics, painting, and photography into a process that combines seemingly divergent techniques into a final work that unifies these personal and powerful words.
